Re: Shanbally National School Parents Association Spring Newsletter.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back from the Mid-term! Spring is finally here and the Parents Association are currently busily preparing for our upcoming events taking us right up to the end of June J

A big thanks to all of you who baked and supported our recent cake sale. It was a fantastic success and all proceeds went towards the Reptile Zoo visit last Wednesday in the school. The children had a wonderful day so it was definitely money well spent J

Here are some of the upcoming events planned for our children:

  1. 15th March: There will be a Saint Patricks Day themed “wear what you want day”. There will be no charge for this day! The best dressed boy and the best dressed girl will get a prize so make sure to get out the green white & gold and get creative!

  1. 22nd March: This is the last day before our Easter mid-term and to celebrate Easter we will be hosting our annual Easter Raffle. Tickets will be €1 per child, the prize will be an Easter Egg & a voucher for the Good Fish Shop to feed the Clan on Good Friday J All children will get a mini egg also on the day!

  1. 25th of April:  We are extremely excited to announce that Shanbally National School Parents Association will be holding a Fashion Show in the Carrigaline Court Hotel,

on Thursday April 25th. The hotel is booked, the date is set and we are busily acquiring some amazing stores to get involved. We will have professional staging, lighting and mc on the night.

This will be a great night for all of the family. We will be looking for mums, dads and children to model the clothes, so we are hoping that loads of you will be up for strutting your stuff on the catwalk J. We have even managed to persuade some of the teachers to give the Catwalk a try so we look forward to seeing them on the night!

This will be our biggest Fund Raiser for this term and we really need to get funds into our account in order to pay for all of the amazing events planned for our children, so we really will be relying on your support!! Tickets will go on sale soon at a cost of €10 per person, children are €2. More information will be sent home soon regarding this super event, so please keep the night free in your diary! It would be terrific if Shanbally National could pull off this brilliant event in style J

  1. 25th May: First Holy Communion: The boys and girls in second class are busily preparing for their First Holy Communion which will take place on Saturday the 25th of May. We wish them lots of luck on their special day and we look forward to seeing them all with their families after the Church for refreshments in the School Halla, hosted by the PA.

  1. Information night for the Parents of the new Junior Infants Class of 2013: Parents of the new Juniors infants starting next September 2013 are invited to an open night in the School on Thursday the 30th May. We look forward to welcoming the new parents and families to Shanbally National School. Teas and coffees will be provided by the PA on the night.

  1. 20th June: 6th Class Leaving Night:  The boys and girls will enjoy sharing their memories of Shanbally National in what is always an emotional but fabulous evening for the children, families and teachers.  Nibbles, drinks, teas & coffees are provided for the parents on the night as well as treats & soft drinks for the boys and girls.

  1. 20th June: Cake Sale:  The Last Cake Sale of this school term will be on Thursday the 20th June. As always we look forward to the yummy cakes baked by you. We really appreciate the effort you all make & the support you show for every cake sale.

  1. June Disco:   We are hoping to host a Children’s Disco for all of the kids in the school as a farewell for the end of the school year. This will be held in Pfizer’s Sports Hall, the dates are yet to be confirmed.

We look forward to celebrating and participating in the above with you all. Make sure to pencil the dates into your calendars J.

As always the funds we raise from our fundraisers will go directly back to our school. Mr. Nolan has very ambitious and exciting plans for IT within the school. The PA hopes to be able to financially contribute to this fantastic project, but the amount will depend on how successful and supported the fashion show will be.

Another Idea the Parents Association and School are trying to get off the ground is a School Book Scheme. This would go a long way in lessening the financial burden on families for purchasing their children’s school books. Again this idea can only come into fruition if our Fashion Show, Cake Sale and other fundraisers are well supported.

We look forward to your continuing support.

Best Wishes,
